Rusk County VINELink Changed
Texas replaced county VINE and VINELink with IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. The Texas Office of the Attorney General says existing county registrations migrated to the new platform. New Rusk County searches and alerts should use IVSS-Counties, not instructions written for the old VINE telephone workflow. The portal is free and supports participating county jail and county-court events.
IVSS-Counties may send notices about booking, release, court-event changes, transfer to TDCJ, escape, or death when the selected agency and record offer those events. It can deliver through available phone, text, and email channels. Coverage depends on the source jail being online and transmitting the event. The portal therefore serves as a notification layer, not an official release certificate.
Texas also operates TDCJ IVSS for people in state prison or on parole or mandatory supervision. That is a separate system. A Rusk County transfer notice to TDCJ is not a community release, and the person's next status must be checked through TDCJ offender information or TDCJ IVSS.
Search Rusk County IVSS Records
Identity matching is the most important part of a specific-person search. Full first and last name can work, and the portal allows partial names when spelling is uncertain. A DOC ID, Texas SID, jail ID, or permanent booking number is safer. Compare the listed jail and identifiers before opening a record or registering a notice.
- Open the current Texas IVSS-Counties portal.
- Enter the full first and last name, or use the permitted partial-name approach when spelling is unclear.
- Use a DOC ID, SID, jail ID, or permanent booking number when available to reduce false matches.
- Complete the CAPTCHA and review every possible result.
- Confirm that Rusk County Jail or the correct participating agency supplied the result, then compare all visible identifiers.
- Open only the matched record and note the booking or custody status and offered notification events.
Do not merge separate bookings simply because a name repeats. Arrest date, date of birth or age, charge, cause number, and agency can distinguish episodes. If no safe match is possible, call IVSS-Counties support at 866-268-8959 and contact Rusk County Jail rather than choosing the closest name.

Rusk County IVSS Release Fields
The exact fields and event choices depend on the participating agency and the matched record. IVSS-Counties can expose enough information to identify a current custody event and select a notice, but a person who is no longer confined may not remain searchable. Save the confirmation and identifiers while the result is available.

A suppressed location may be shown as unknown or undisclosed in a pending matter. That does not permit guessing. Likewise, a missing result does not prove release. The portal expressly warns that people no longer in custody may not appear, so the Rusk County jail register or booking-out record is the durable source.
Register Rusk County Release Notifications
Notification may be requested with or without an account. Accounts can help manage contact changes, pauses, preferred contact hours or blackout dates, and notification history. Either path requires the correct result first. Registering against a name-only near match can send alerts about the wrong person.
- Open the fully matched Rusk County IVSS result.
- Select the notification control and review the custody events offered for that record.
- Choose release, transfer, or another relevant event where available.
- Select the offered phone, text, or email destination.
- Complete the current contact-verification prompts. Follow the on-screen process rather than an old VINE brochure.
- Save the confirmation with the source jail and booking identifier.
An alert is informational. When a release notice arrives, call the jail or request the written entry if the exact time, release type, or destination matters. A transfer notice should lead to the receiving system. If the person moved to TDCJ, use state offender information; if the county record indicates an ICE or federal handoff, use that agency's locator.
Note: Check the portal's Offline Jails information when Rusk County results are unavailable, then call support and the jail.
Why Rusk Releases Disappear
The Texas transition creates a distinctive local records problem. A Rusk County person can disappear from the current IVSS-Counties search after release even while an existing notification registration remains active. Search visibility and registration state are not the same thing. A delivered notice may be retained by the recipient, but the public portal does not replace the Sheriff's permanent jail register.
Use the alert to mark the time when the system reported a change. Then ask Rusk County Jail for the booking-out or release record for that exact episode. Include the booking identifier, full name, known date of birth, approximate dates, and requested fields. The record should distinguish release from transfer and state the release time, type or code, authority, and destination if those fields are maintained.
Rusk County Legacy VINE PIN
The old four-digit PIN still appears in historical VINE instructions. Under that former system, a telephone registrant chose a PIN and entered it plus the pound sign when an automated notice arrived. The acknowledgment stopped repeat calls. Unanswered calls could repeat for a period stated in the old material. That process explains older saved instructions, but it is not the registration method a new user should follow in 2026.

Rusk County IVSS Limits
IVSS-Counties covers participating county events. It does not serve as a complete search for all custody systems located in Rusk County. James Bradshaw Unit, East Texas Treatment Facility, and Billy Moore Unit belong to the TDCJ track. State offender information can show location, offenses, projected release information, and scheduled release details after processing. A projected or scheduled date can change and does not prove the event occurred.

Federal and immigration systems do not feed a complete custody history into county IVSS. “Not in BOP custody” is not always unconditional freedom, and an ICE locator miss can reflect a recent change or data mismatch. Use the matching authority and read its result narrowly.
Confirm Rusk County IVSS Alerts
For a county alert, compare the event with the Rusk County InterOp status and the jail record. InterOp may show RELEASED without the release date, time, reason, or destination. The Sheriff's request form can seek those missing fields. The court cause number then explains whether bond, dismissal, sentence, time served, or a transfer order supplied the legal basis. Court action does not by itself establish the precise moment of physical exit.
For TDCJ, search by the seven-digit TDCJ number or SID when possible. If the online record is inconclusive after discharge, contact TDCJ offender information and ask specifically for release, parole, mandatory supervision, or discharge status and its effective date. A county booking alone does not create a TDCJ record, and departure from a TDCJ unit does not necessarily mean sentence discharge.
The full Rusk County release verification path connects jail, court, TDCJ, and federal sources when one person's custody crosses systems. Each source should be tied to the same episode before the release is treated as confirmed.
